U20 European Championship Vital For Young Serbians // 01 July 2009

Serbia have been warming up for their title defense at the U20 European Championship for Men in Rhodes by competing at the Mediterranean Games in Italy.

According to their head coach, Slobodan Klipa, the competition in Pescara, Italy, and this years' European Championship in Greece are important tournaments for players attempting to make the team's Olympic team in 2012 should Serbia qualify.

Lithuania Gear Up For U20 Championship In Rhodes // 29 June 2009
Lithuania's junior teams are almost always in the running for medals, but coach Rimvydas Samulenas isn't even thinking about that right now with the U20 European Championship in Rhodes, Greece, still three weeks away.

The Baltic side finished runners-up to Serbia last year in Riga, and six players from that event are in the preliminary squad for this summer.
Big Contributors From 2009 In Mix Again For Lithuania // 24 June 2009

Four of Lithuania's leading scorers at the U20 European Championship in Riga last year are in the preliminary squad for the upcoming U20 event in Rhodes, Greece.

Zygimantas Janavicius (10.1pts), Adas Juskevicius (7pts), Vytenis Lipkevicius (12pts) and Donatas Motiejunas (11.2pts) were all in the side that finished runners-up to Serbia.

Spain Taking Aim At Podium In Rhodes // 23 June 2009

Spain coach Gustavo Aranzana is full of enthusiasm as he prepares his troops for the U20 European Championship in Rhodes, Greece.

His team captured a bronze medal at the event held in Riga last year and the return of seven players suggests Aranzana's squad will be in the hunt for a podium finish this time as well.

The sons of former Philadelphia 76ers coach Tony DiLeo, TJ and Max, are on the German national team radar.

TJ DiLeo, a redshirt freshman at Temple University this year, turns 19 in June and is expected to be invited to a Germany Under-20 team training camp.

Europeans Lead World Select To Hoop Summit Triumph // 14 April 2009

A World Select Team loaded with some of Europe's finest who are 19 years old or younger beat a United States Select at the 2009 Nike Hoop Summit in Portland.

Milan Macvan, who two summers ago played on the Serbia side that won the U18 European Championship in Madrid, and Nikos Pappas of Greece played big minutes on Saturday as the World Select Team prevailed 97-89.

2009 Youth Draw Complete // 31 January 2009

It was cold outside but the thoughts of the European basketball community were on the summer this afternoon in Freising, Germany where the draw was held for the 2009 FIBA Europe Youth Competitions.

Officials from across the continent gathered to learn the path their youth national teams will take if they hope to grace the medal podium at this summer's youth championships.

2009 FIBA Europe Youth Draw On The Horizon // 27 January 2009

The draw for FIBA Europe's 2009 Youth Competitions will take place this Saturday, 31st January in Freising, Germany.

The draw will determine the groups for the 14 men's and women's youth tournaments that will take place this summer across Europe.  That total consists of six A Division championships, six B Division championships and two C Division championships, both at the U18 level.

Serbia Golden Again // 10 August 2008

Serbia are the 2008 U20 European Championship Men gold medallists after a 96-89 win over Lithuania in a finals game that will be marked as one of the best in recent years.

This is the third year in a row Serbia are crowned in this competition but it came as no surprise.

Raduljica Named MVP // 10 August 2008
Miroslav Raduljica of Serbia was named the MVP of the 2008 U20 European Championship Men in Riga, after leading his team to yet another gold medal.


The 210cm center dominated the championship from the first to the last day. He finished the games with a double-double average of 18.6 ppg and 10.9 rpg with a total of five games with double-double including the grand finals.

Spain Capture Bronze // 10 August 2008

For the third time ever Spain has won the bronze medal in the U20 European Championship Men after a 91-72 victory over Turkey on Sunday night in Riga.

This generation of Spain also won the bronze medal two years ago in the 2006 U18 European Championship.
