Israel Stop Turkey To Earn Top Six Finish // 14 July 2007
Israel will play for fifth place at the U20 European Championship Men after Elishay Kadir scored 22 points in a 74-64 victory over Turkey.

Daniel Gur Arie added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds and Yogev Ohayon poured in 17 points for the Israelis, who received only nine points from Omri Casspi in 17 minutes.

Israel will play the winner between co-hosts Slovenia and Bulgaria in Sunday's fifth place match.

Yakov Gino's team led 27-20 after one period only to see Turkey pull ahead 35-33 on Bora Pacun's lay-up with 2:34 left in the half.

The Israelis went into the break up 40-36, however, and increased the advantage to 10 points midway through the third quarter - 51-41.

But the Turks again came back, trailing just 53-51 before facing a 57-53 deficit going into the fourth quarter.

Ohayon had four points and Tal Michael Dunne five points as Israel scored the first 11 points of the final period to pull away for good - 68-53.

Turkey could only trim the deficit to six the rest of the way.

Oguz Savas paced the Turks with 18 points and Pacun added 12.

Turkey will take on the loser of the Slovenia-Bulgaria match on Sunday for seventh place.
